The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) was established in 1974. Over the years, MATTA has grown from being a travel agents association with about 30 members to one with over 1,700 members comprising all the travel agents and tour operators in the country as well as numerous overseas affiliations.  

It is also the national umbrella representative body for the entire travel industry in the country. With a full time secretariat in Kuala Lumpur, its headquarters, MATTA has state chapters in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Perak, Penang, Pahang, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak. 

MATTA Sarawak Chapter, promote the interests of the travel and tour industry in Sarawak with over 150 members. MATTA Sarawak Chapter works closely with the Ministry of Tourism, Sarawak Tourism Board, Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board, Sarawak Tourism Federation, Airlines and other industry players to help organize fairs, seminars, convention and workshops both to create public awareness of the tourism industry as well as to benefit its members.
